A block puzzle around a planet
Planet Blocks starts with a familiar puzzle idea: fitting colorful pieces together. The twist is the playing field. Pieces wrap around a little planet, and the goal is to complete rings. Matthew Polyushkin’s original idea gives the puzzle its circular shape.
Instead of reading the board only from left to right, follow each ring all the way around. A space that looks isolated on one side may belong to the same ring as a gap on the other. Seeing that connection is part of learning the game.
Give your first session one goal
For a first session, focus on completing a ring and noticing what changes afterward. Take a moment to look at the available piece and the spaces it could fill before deciding where it belongs. Use the instructions shown in the game to learn its current controls.
A useful question is: does this placement make a ring easier to finish? Looking for the remaining gaps gives you a concrete next step. Once the circular layout feels familiar, experiment with different placements and compare what happens.
A puzzle to talk through together
Planet Blocks can also be a shared puzzle conversation. One person can play while another looks for a possible fit, then you can swap roles. Explaining why a piece might work is a simple way to notice options you missed.
